The Lonesome Pine of Iwami
The Lonesome Pine of Iwami is a giant yew standing in the Aza-iwami district of Tomamae Town. The tree is estimated to be 800 years old and its trunk's circumference exceeds 3 meters. The tree, which stood where it is today when explorers first settled here in 1896, is designated as a protected memorial tree by the Hokkaido Prefecutural Government. Simply standing by the tree provides a sense of calm and relaxation.
