Home of History: Folk and Archaeological Data Museum
Two pit dwellings and one thatched roof Ainu house (called chise) are restored and displayed in this museum. The houses feature a fine attention to details that continues to the interior, as they faithfully represent how people of the area once lived. The museum conveys the history of Tomamae from pre-historic to modern times in a way that is easy for visitors to understand. The reenactment model of the Sankebetsu brown bear incident comes to life to provide a dramatic effect.
