Statue of Takeshiro Matsuura
Takeshiro Matsuura was an explorer of the north during the late Edo period (1603-1868). He visited Teshio four times to make records of the nature and geography along the coast of the Sea of Japan and Teshio River basin, as well as the peoples' lifestyles. His statue is located in Kagaminuma Seaside Park in honor of his contributions and achievements.
